NRMLA launches online resourceMortgagePress.comReverse mortgages
In response to rapid growth in the reverse mortgage business,
the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) has
developed a new trade Web site at www.nrmlaonline.org, designed
to be a comprehensive resource for lenders who are adding new sales
staff or just entering the business and want to know how to be
successful.
"Growth is healthy, provided that it is handled by competent
companies [who possess] the utmost integrity and a sense of
responsibility to clients, who are knowledgeable about all aspects
of the reverse mortgage program," said Peter Bell, president of
NRMLA, which recently announced a 77 percent increase in the number
of Federal Housing Administration reverse mortgages originated
during the most recent federal fiscal year, ending Sept. 30,
2006.
The new Web site features:
• A reference/publications section with links to articles
on getting started in the reverse mortgage business; senior issues;
marketing and origination topics; building strategic relationships;
counseling; processing and underwriting; product information on the
Home Equity Conversion Mortgage, Home Keeper and Cash Account
programs; updates on state and federal legislation; U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development and Fannie Mae regulations; print
and television news coverage and up-to-the-minute stories posted
through Google News Alerts; industry statistics; research conducted
on reverse mortgages and retirement issues; servicing; and
secondary market topics;
• A vendor directory featuring descriptions and contact
information for members of NRMLA that provide different ancillary
services to lenders, such as title insurance, marketing and
consulting services;
• An NRMLA section with links to membership information, code
of conduct and best practices, contact information for NRMLA staff
and board of directors, information on committees, and back issues
of Reverse Mortgage Advisor, NRMLA Washington Update (formerly
Mid-Month Report) and press releases; and
• An events section containing information on upcoming
Learn-While-Lunch programs and conferences.
