Jonathon Haddad will take over as chair and CEO of broker association in April.

Recently named to NMP’s Top 40 Under 40, Jonathon Haddad didn’t realize his dream of helping the broker community would come so quickly.

In his interview last year with NMP, Haddad said: “I want to be known as a workhorse who is relentless and gives back to the broker community. I believe I will contribute my resources to the entire broker space.”

That’s exactly what he plans to do as the new chairman and CEO of AIME, according to a press release. He declined an interview for this article.

Haddad, the president and owner of Michigan-based brokerage Next Door Lending, replaces Katie Sweeney, who is stepping down to lead the Broker Action Coalition (BAC) and BACPAC, the political action committee she started with AIME.

Mike Kortas, CEO of NEXA, who has been critical of the way AIME was being run, said he plans to re-affiliate with the group.

He doesn’t know Haddad well, Kortas said, but has looked at his videos on social media and takes him at his word that he wants to bring the broker community together.

Haddad will replace Sweeney, but it’s unclear what he will be paid. As of 2022, Sweeney was paid $479,990 by the association.

“He seems to be sincere about his desire to have the broker community work together,” Kortas said.

As far as the broker wars are considered, “it’s getting tiresome,” Kortas continued. “It’s a good time for the community to come back together.”

Kortas sees Haddad as being a uniting force for the broker community.

When it comes to Sweeney, she will be focusing exclusively on public policy advocacy and political activities on behalf of the industry. The press release announcing Haddad's appointment says that AIME will continue supporting and working with the Broker Action Coalition as it leads the wholesale channel’s advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., for state and federal legislative reform.
