Hometap Taps Regulatory, Product Veterans To Fuel Home Equity Expansion
Hometap has appointed Jesse Silverman as general counsel and Josh Berg as chief product officer to strengthen compliance, product development, and support continued growth of its home equity financing platform
Boston-based fintech provider Hometap has appointed two senior executives as it accelerates expansion and strengthens its operational platform. Jesse Silverman joins as general counsel and Josh Berg as chief product officer, marking key additions to Hometap’s leadership team as the firm scales its home equity financing business.
“Hometap’s growth has been driven by a focus on building solutions that reflect the financial realities homeowners are navigating today,” said Jeffrey Glass, CEO of Hometap. “These leadership additions help ensure our approach to homeowner-first product development continues to evolve, while maintaining the standards and practices that support trust across the industry.”
Silverman will report directly to Glass and lead the company’s legal, compliance, and regulatory engagement efforts. He brings extensive experience in financial services and fintech, including senior roles with the Connecticut Department of Banking and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where he helped establish the CFPB’s Office of Enforcement. Silverman has also served as general counsel and chief compliance officer for fintech firms and most recently provided outside counsel to technology companies on compliance program integration and regulatory strategy. In his new role, he will advise the executive team on governance, regulatory interactions, and the management of outside counsel.
“As home equity solutions become more widely used, clear standards and strong consumer protections are increasingly important,” said Silverman. “Hometap has taken an active role in engaging with regulators and policymakers, and I look forward to helping advance legal and compliance frameworks that protect consumers and support the long-term health of the industry.”
Berg, who will be reporting to Hometap President and COO Sarah Dekin, will oversee product strategy and the evolution of the company’s homeowner-facing platform. Berg brings more than a decade of product leadership experience from high-growth tech companies including ResortPass, ezCater, CarGurus, and Wayfair. At Hometap, he will direct product and design teams to enhance homeowner experience and expand the company’s suite of solutions.
“Our role is to meet homeowners where they are and help them understand the choices available to them,” said Berg. “Hometap has built a strong foundation of homeowner-first solutions, and I'm excited to help scale and evolve our platform to serve homeowners' changing needs."
Founded in 2017, Hometap offers alternative home equity financing that enables homeowners to access equity without monthly payments or traditional loans.
