The strategic partnership brings AI-driven automation and cloud technology to streamline the home loan process for brokers and borrowers

Google Cloud and United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating digital transformation in the home financing process. The collaboration brings together Google Cloud’s cutting-edge artificial intelligence and data analytics with UWM’s longstanding expertise in mortgage technology.

The partnership will see UWM integrate Google Cloud’s AI and machine learning tools into its lending operations. The enhancements are designed to increase automation in underwriting, streamline document handling, and bolster client services through AI-powered chat tools.

UWM is among the first to implement Google’s Gemini Flash 1.5 model to automate underwriting tasks. According to the company, this has already doubled underwriter productivity, allowing them to process 14 loans per day, up from six.

“This agreement signals two industry leaders coming together to tackle the mortgage industry’s biggest challenges and deliver innovative solutions,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “United Wholesale Mortgage is at the bleeding edge of generative AI in the mortgage space, and together we are reimagining the home financing journey, making it more efficient and faster for mortgage brokers and homebuyers.”

The collaboration is also expected to utilize Google Cloud’s infrastructure to enhance scalability and strengthen security protocols. With a network of 50,000 mortgage brokers and their clients, UWM aims to deliver a faster and more reliable lending experience.

UWM plans to expand the use of AI to offer smarter loan matching and more personalized borrower experiences through improved data insights. These efforts align with the company’s ongoing commitment to simplifying the mortgage process.

“We are incredibly proud to enter into this transformative partnership with Google Cloud as it is a major step forward in our mission to make the mortgage process faster, easier and cheaper,” said Mat Ishbia, President and CEO of UWM. “By combining our mortgage expertise with Google Cloud’s generative AI and cloud capabilities, we will set a new standard for the industry, providing clients with a seamless and intelligent lending experience.”

Further details on the rollout of specific technology features and products are expected in the coming months.
