House Financial Services Committee Launches New Site

May 10, 2011

The House Financial Services Committee (HFSC), chaired by Rep. Spencer Bachus, has announced the launch of its newly designed Web site. The enhanced site offers new features that give online users the opportunity to participate in the Committee’s hearings, voice their opinions about legislation, and contact the Committee with tips about waste, fraud and abuse. “The financial crisis and our country’s ongoing economic struggles have placed a great emphasis on the work of the Committee. Our new Web site will help us engage Americans on the issues they care about and enhance our ability to keep them informed of the Committee’s work,” said Rep. Bachus. The new interactive programs at http://financialservices.house.gov include: ►YourWitness, which enables Americans to submit questions for Committee Members to ask witnesses at upcoming hearings. ►YouComment, which gives Americans the opportunity to submit comments on legislation referred to the Committee. ►You Blow The Whistle, which allows visitors to submit tips regarding waste, fraud and abuse taking place at Federal Agencies or programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction The new site also adds a blog, The Bottom Line, where Committee Members and staff will post information on important issues in the realm of financial services and housing policy. The Committee’s emphasis on social media is also evident on the new site. Visitors to the site can access the Committee’s Twitter stream (@financialcmte), Facebook page, YouTube page and watch hearings live via Webcasts.
