Mortgage industry veteran to launch leadership academy, boost company’s recruitment and talent development

Private, independent mortgage lender Nationwide Mortgage Bankers Inc. (NMB) has hired Chris Allen as chief culture officer. Allen previously served as chief talent officer at Movement Mortgage, where he helped grow the company to more than 4,000 employees, and now brings his experience in organizational health and recruiting to NMB.

“NMB is committed to a culture that puts people first,” NMB President Michael Brennan stated in a release. “Bringing Chris on board reflects our commitment to people. People matter; it’s one of our core values.”

NMB noted that Allen’s leadership helped Movement hone a purpose-driven culture, leadership development, and people-first approach. Among other initiatives, Allen spearheaded Movement University, a training program aimed at facilitating and maintaining a consistent talent pool. He also built the Thrive Department, which established initiatives focused on financial, physical, family, professional, spiritual, and mental wellness of employees.

Now, Allen will launch the NMB Leadership Academy, according to the company, working to align the organization under a common operating system with quarterly and annual goals.

Allen called his new position at NMB “an opportunity to help shape a culture that values people for who they are, and empowers them to bring their unique gifts to the table.”

According to NMB, Allen will work closely with its executive team, and particularly Sharon Lafaurie, senior vice president of human resources. Together, they will work to foster “a high-trust environment where doing the right thing for people is at the heart of every decision.”

Founded in 2011, NMB states that its mission is to serve as a trusted advisor to clients and referral partners, guiding them through the home financing process “with the highest level of service and professionalism.”
