Dan Sogorka Steps Down As Rocket Pro GM; Austin Niemiec To Assume Leadership
Rocket Pro enters its next chapter under Austin Niemiec, who will guide the broker channel, while maintaining a role as CRO at Rocket Mortgage
Rocket Pro General Manager Dan Sogorka has announced he is departing the company, to be replaced by Austin Niemiec, who will assume oversight of Rocket Pro.
Starting next week, Niemiec's role as chief revenue officer will focus solely on the company's wholesale and correspondent division, Rocket Pro (formerly Rocket TPO), reporting to Chief Operating Officer of Rocket Companies Heather Lovier. Additionally, Lovier will take over Rocket Mortgage retail responsibilities, and will report to Rocket Mortgage CEO Jay Bray (former CEO of Mr. Cooper Group).
According to a source familiar with the transition, no additional management changes are planned within Rocket Pro, and the existing leadership team will continue in their current roles, reporting to Niemiec.
In a statement, Sogorka reflected on his tenure and the personal considerations behind his decision.
“The past year-and-a-half has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my career. I’ve had the opportunity to listen closely to the broker community and work alongside the dedicated Rocket team to build solutions that made a real difference for brokers and the clients they serve. It’s also been a meaningful season personally, with one son at San Diego State, another finishing high school, and a two-year-old daughter experiencing so many firsts. While I’ve loved my time in Detroit and meeting partners across the country, it feels right to be more present with my family in San Diego. I’m deeply grateful for my time at Rocket Pro and confident the team is in great hands under Austin’s leadership.”
Sogorka was appointed general manager of Rocket Pro in 2024, bringing decades of mortgage banking, fintech, and mortgage technology leadership experience to the role. Prior to joining Rocket, he served as president and CEO of Sagent Lending Technologies and previously held executive roles at Cloudvirga, ServiceLink, and Black Knight, where he spent more than a decade in senior leadership.
Niemiec Returns To Broker Channel Oversight
With Niemiec at the helm of Rocket Pro, he returns to a direct leadership role of the broker channel.
In June 2019, Niemiec was named EVP of Quicken Loans Mortgage Services, replacing David Schroeder. He later played a central role in the company’s wholesale rebrand, as Quicken Loans Mortgage Services transitioned to Rocket Pro TPO in 2020 and eventually to Rocket Pro as part of Rocket Companies’ broader brand alignment.
In January 2023, Niemiec became chief revenue officer of Rocket Mortgage as part of a leadership transition that elevated Mike Fawaz to EVP.
Rocket said Niemiec will retain his CRO title, with responsibilities expanded to include oversight of Rocket Pro.
In his statement, Niemiec emphasized continuity and collaboration with Rocket Pro leadership, including Katie Sweeney, EVP of strategy and broker advocacy; Cory Scholl, EVP of sales; and Fawaz.
“I’m honored to return to Rocket Pro and champion the brokers who make homeownership possible in the communities they serve. Together with Katie, Cory, Fawaz, and the broader team, we’ll deepen partnerships and drive faster, more impactful outcomes for loan officers and homebuyers alike.”
Sogorka does not have an announced next role. Those familiar with the transition described the move as a personal decision centered on family, rather than an immediate career move.
And while Sogorka had experience in executive roles with mortgage tech vendors for most of his career, his time with Rocket was his first role as a wholesale lender. Under his tutelage, Sogorka and his team launched a series of broker-focused initiatives at the Rocket Pro Experience (RPX) in Detroit this past September.
Rocket indicated that Niemiec is expected to engage with industry media in the coming weeks, as he outlines his vision for Rocket Pro’s next chapter.
