Zillow Hitting 2025 With Executive Re-Boot
Zillow's President and SVP of Product step down, Jun Choo appointed to COO
Today Zillow announced its president, Susan Daimler, is stepping down after serving three years in her position. She'd been with the company for 12 years. Her husband, Matt Daimler, a senior vice president of product, has also resigned.
The Daimlers joined Zillow in 2012 following its acquisition of Buyfolio, a real estate startup Susan Daimler founded in 2006. Over her tenure, Susan held key leadership roles, including senior vice president and general manager of StreetEasy and Zillow NYC, as well as head of Zillow’s Premier Agent business, before being appointed company president.
Reflecting on her time at Zillow, Susan Daimler described her experience as “more than we could have imagined when we joined the company,” adding, “we’re ready for our next adventure and we’ll always be cheering for the team and company we have loved so much.”
“We’re grateful for both Susan and Matt’s many contributions and leadership over the last 12 years,” said Zillow CEO Jeremy Wacksman. “They’ve each had a tremendous impact on Zillow’s growth and success, and we wish them all the best.”
Since stepping into the mortgage lending arena in 2019 with the launch of Zillow Home Loans, the digital real estate brokerage has undergone many leadership changes.
In the recent third quarter, Zillow Home Loans experienced a shocking 63% annual increase in mortgage revenues that powered Zillow Group’s 17% year-over-year revenue growth in the third quarter.
Jun Choo Appointed COO
In Friday's press release, Zillow also announced the promotion of Jun Choo to chief operating officer (COO). Choo steps into the role previously held by Wacksman, who became CEO in August following the transition of co-founder Rich Barton to executive chair.
Choo joined Zillow in 2015 through the company’s acquisition of Trulia. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of real estate software, overseeing Zillow Premier Agent sales, ShowingTime, dotloop, Zillow Showcase, Aryeo, and other B2B products.
As COO, Choo will lead Zillow’s business strategy and operations, with a focus on expanding its integrated transaction experience for agents, movers, and industry professionals.
“Jun has long been an instrumental leader in our company, consistently creating and scaling innovative solutions across our business,” Wacksman said. “He has been a key driver of our numerous technology investments to digitize the industry. Under his leadership, we will expand the integrated transaction experience to more customers and offer them a better way to transact in real estate.”
Choo expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, “Our industry software offerings are unmatched, and we will continue to invest in new solutions that help modernize the real estate experience through Zillow’s housing super app.”
Susan Daimler also voiced her support for Choo’s promotion, adding, “We’ve worked with Jun for a long time, and we’re excited to see him in this new role.”
Additionally, Christopher Roberts, who joined Zillow in 2006, will take over leadership of the product organization. Roberts, who currently leads the rentals division, is expected to bring extensive experience to this critical role.
