Homebuilding Vice President Named To Fannie Mae’s Board
FHFA Director William Pulte appoints Brandon Hamara to a full-time board member of the GSE to 'further effectuate homebuilding' in the U.S.
In response to President Trump's call to spur the nation’s housing supply, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte has appointed Brandon Hamara, Freddie Mac board member and vice president of Tri Pointe Homes, to a full-time role as a Fannie Mae Board member.
"I am pleased to announce that Freddie Mac board member, Brandon Hamara, who is an expert in homebuilding, and a leader at Tri Pointe Homes, will be joining Fannie Mae full-time, and as a board member, to further effectuate homebuilding in our great country,” said Pulte via his X account. “In my view, it will take somebody with deep understanding of homebuilding in order to get homebuilding going again. As the President said we need to get building again, and Brandon will help us do just!"
President Trump, in a recent Truth Social post, stated that homebuilders are “sitting on 2 million empty lots, a record,” comparing it to OPEC’s control of oil prices. “They’re my friends, and they’re very important to the SUCCESS of our Country, but now, they can get Financing, and they have to start building Homes,” Trump continued.
Hamara has served on the board of directors at Freddie Mac since March 2025 and holds the position of vice president at Tri Pointe Homes, where he has served as director of land acquisition since May 2017. He was also an adjunct professor, teaching real estate and finance courses at Santa Barbara City College since August 2016.
Hamara’s previous experience includes roles such as Land Acquisition Manager at Richmond American Homes, Market Intelligence Manager at PulteGroup, and Land Disposition Coordinator at Land Interests Inc. Early in his career, he served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Santa Barbara County Chapter, and interned at Pulte Homes.
Hamara holds a master's degree in real estate development from the University of Southern California, a Leadership Development Certificate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a Bachelor of Arts from UC Santa Barbara.
In addition to his role on the Fannie Mae Board, Hamara will also serve as senior vice president and head of operations for Single-Family and Multifamily, beginning in November.
