Previously the president of Movement Mortgage

Nationwide Mortgage Bankers Inc. (DBA NMBNOW) just scored a major talent win, announcing mortgage veteran Michael Brennan as its new president of sales and operations. Brennan, who previously led South Carolina-based Movement Mortgage to national prominence, steps in to supercharge growth for NMB.

At Movement Mortgage, Brennan started as Northeast regional director in 2015, rapidly climbing to president by 2021. During his tenure, he helped scale Movement to a powerhouse with 5,600 employees and an eye-popping annual loan volume of $33 billion—no small feat.

"Michael Brennan's arrival is hugely significant for building upon the strong foundation we have at NMB and now expanding our services across the nation," said Richard Steinberg, Founder and Chairman of NMB. "We are excited to add to the great work Michael did on impact lending alongside Movement Mortgage Co-Founder Casey Crawford. Their efforts to give back to the communities they serve is truly an inspiration and helped propel our efforts to launch the new NMB Cares Foundation."

In his new role, Brennan takes charge of sales and operations at the rapidly growing, 500-employee firm that operates in 47 states through 29 offices. He'll focus heavily on expanding NMB's Affinity Platform, which offers financial wellness perks in partnership with businesses across the U.S.

Tech-driven innovation is also top of Brennan's agenda, particularly NMB's BuyNOW and e-close platforms, which boast industry-leading processing times and streamlined user experiences. Brennan sees these platforms as critical tools for empowering loan officers and attracting customers, from first-time homebuyers to seasoned property investors.

"I'm extremely excited to join a forward-thinking team so devoted to making the mortgage process as seamless as possible for clients," Brennan said. "I see a real opportunity at NMB to bring their amazing technology platform and unique business model to high-performing loan officers in towns and cities across the country. They have the flexibility to work with a wide range of customers — first-time homebuyers, people moving up or exploring investment properties — and NMB has all the pieces in place to expand their services to new areas."

Off the clock, Brennan actively partners with notable nonprofits like the EQUIP Foundation, Empathy & Compassion, International Cooperative Ministries, and the Karis Foundation, channeling efforts toward families and communities in Central and South America.

Since its founding in 2011, NMB has consistently aimed to simplify mortgages through education, transparency, and unparalleled customer service—a mission Brennan is fully set to amplify.
