Integration brings AI-powered pre-underwriting platform into MeridianLink's loan origination system

Friday Harbor has integrated its AI-powered pre-underwriting platform with MeridianLink Mortgage, allowing lenders to access the technology within MeridianLink's loan origination system.

The integration synchronizes loan data between the two platforms and is intended to help lenders identify documentation, income calculation, and guideline issues before files reach underwriting.

Friday Harbor analyzes borrower documents, appraisals, income calculations, and other loan data against investor guidelines and lender overlays. The company said the platform helps lenders identify missing documentation, discrepancies, and guideline conflicts earlier in the origination process.

MeridianLink Mortgage is a cloud-based loan origination system used by banks, credit unions, and independent mortgage banks to manage mortgage, home equity, and HELOC lending.

While the announcement centers on a technology integration, it also reflects lenders' continued focus on operational efficiency. As origination volumes remain below the levels seen during the refinance boom, many lenders are looking for ways to improve throughput and reduce costs without adding staff. Technologies designed to identify documentation and guideline issues before underwriting have become an increasingly common area of investment across mortgage operations.

"Much of the friction in processing a loan comes from discovering problems too late," said Theo Ellis, CEO of Friday Harbor. "When you catch a missing tax return or an income calculation error during file prep instead of three days into underwriting, you save time and money while keeping borrowers informed. This partnership puts that capability where MeridianLink Mortgage users are already working."

The MeridianLink integration expands Friday Harbor's reach within a widely used mortgage origination platform and follows a series of recent announcements aimed at increasing the company's visibility among lenders.

Last month, Friday Harbor announced an AI governance attestation conducted by Brody | Gapp. The company also highlighted production results from lender NewFed Mortgage, which reported improvements in loan officer productivity and funded loan volume using the platform.
