March is tasked with overseeing the bank’s technology strategy

West Coast Community Bank has appointed Matthew March as its new executive vice president and chief information officer, the bank announced Thursday. A seasoned leader in financial technology, March is tasked with overseeing the bank’s technology strategy, advancing cybersecurity initiatives and guiding its broader innovation efforts.

March will be based at the bank’s headquarters at 75 River Street in Santa Cruz, California.

With more than 25 years of experience in both financial services and the technology sector, March brings a track record of digital transformation and strategic IT leadership. His expertise spans cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and enterprise innovation — all of which, the bank said, are central to its long-term vision.

"We're thrilled to have Matthew join the Bank," said Krista Snelling, WCCB President and Chief Executive Officer. "He brings a deep knowledge of information technology, digital transformation and cybersecurity that will benefit our clients and support the security of our infrastructure and success of the Bank. He's a welcome addition to the leadership team and we look forward to his contributions."

March previously served as chief information officer at Sunwest Bank and has held senior IT roles at Pacific Premier Bank, Colony American Finance and Carrington Mortgage Holding. He also held dual executive roles — as chief administrative officer and information officer — at Banc of California.

"It is an honor to join West Coast Community Bank at such an exciting time in the Bank's growth," said March. "I look forward to bolstering the strength of the company's technology infrastructure and driving digital enhancements. I share the Bank's commitment to innovation, security and operational excellence, and I am eager to collaborate with our leadership team."

In addition to his professional background, March is known for his community engagement work. He chaired the Carrington Charitable Foundation, which has supported more than 100 nonprofit organizations across the country. He also helped launch a technology mentoring program with the California Conservation Corps in Los Angeles and created a donation initiative providing refurbished equipment to schools and youth organizations.

March studied computer science and mathematics at California State University, Chico. He has served as a volunteer adjunct professor at several California community colleges and is a published author and frequent industry speaker. He recently filed his second patent in technology innovation.
