HomeHub expansion routes financing interest from protected wholesale borrowers back to their originating loan officers

Newrez is extending its homeowner-engagement platform to wholesale borrowers, giving brokers a potential path back to clients when another mortgage opportunity emerges.

HomeHub is now available to protected wholesale borrowers, allowing homeowners to monitor estimated home values and equity, explore refinance and home equity opportunities, and search local listings.

More importantly for LOs, when a protected borrower expresses interest in a purchase, refinance, or home equity opportunity, Newrez says HomeHub helps reconnect that borrower with the original LO. The originator's contact information also remains integrated throughout the platform during the protection period.

That turns a platform built around Newrez's servicing relationship into a potential source of repeat business for its wholesale partners.

“In today’s competitive market, brokers who stay connected to their clients are the ones who win not only the first transaction, but the next one too,” said Tony Kottenbrock, senior vice president of wholesale lending at Newrez. “HomeHub keeps borrowers informed while helping brokers reengage with clients, create new business opportunities from their existing customer base, and remain a trusted resource beyond closing.”

From Borrower Protection To Borrower Recapture

All conventional and government loans originated through Newrez Wholesale receive 18 months of protection from solicitation by Newrez, according to the lender. Brokers qualifying for its RezClub tier can receive up to 30 months.

RezClub also places the broker company's name and contact information on mortgage statements, emails, and servicing dashboards.

The protection applies to Newrez solicitation, not marketing by other lenders or third parties. Newrez also says protection may no longer apply if the loan is transferred.

HomeHub takes that arrangement beyond non-solicitation. It keeps the originating LO visible while the borrower interacts with Newrez's servicing ecosystem and can reconnect the two when the homeowner expresses interest in financing.

$11.7 Trillion In Tappable Equity

Citing ICE's August 2026 Mortgage Monitor, Newrez said 47.5 million mortgage holders have approximately $11.7 trillion in tappable equity, averaging about $212,000 per borrower.

That opportunity is particularly relevant while many homeowners remain reluctant to refinance low-rate first mortgages simply to access cash.

Newrez has already been targeting that market through its wholesale Express Closed-End Second program. Earlier this year, the lender said more than one-quarter of borrowers in its 2025 wholesale portfolio had enough equity to qualify for a closed-end second, representing approximately $16 billion in tappable equity.

HomeHub potentially adds the lead-generation piece: giving homeowners visibility into their equity and directing those who express financing interest back toward their LO.

Part Of A Bigger Newrez Strategy

Newrez has increasingly emphasized servicing, consumer recapture, and wholesale while reducing its reliance on distributed retail.

HomeHub, launched in late 2025, brings mortgage information, estimated home values, equity insights, financing opportunities, and property listings into one homeowner platform.

Newrez has continued adding services to that ecosystem. In May, the lender expanded its partnership with Matic to embed homeowners insurance comparison and personalized quotes into HomeHub.

Now, Newrez is extending that ecosystem to protected wholesale customers while keeping their brokers in the loop.
