To address an ongoing need for blood services during the coronavirus pandemic, San Diego-based mortgage lender Plaza Home Mortgage is providing funding for a new blood services community vehicle serving the American Red Cross Southern California region.
“It is an honor to continue our partnership with the American Red Cross and help them deliver lifesaving blood to patients in Southern California,” said Kevin Parra, co-founder, chairman, president & CEO of
Plaza Home Mortgage. “Plaza is proud to support the efforts of the American Red Cross during the current health crisis.”
The new biomedical vehicle, made possible by the funding, will be used to deliver blood products to hospitals from the Red Cross blood processing facility in Pomona. It will also be used to transport blood from collection sites and blood drives to the processing and distribution center in Pomona. From the Pomona facility, blood will be sent to hospitals across Southern California, and beyond.
“Plaza Home Mortgage’s investment in our Blood Services community vehicle enables us to provide convenient donation opportunities in local communities, transport blood to processing facilities and deliver blood to hospitals and cancer treatment centers,” said Sean Mahoney, Regional CEO of the American Red Cross Southern California Region. “The generous support of Plaza Home Mortgage will help us deliver lifesaving blood to patients during life’s most urgent moments.”
Plaza Home Mortgage has been a long-time supporter of the Red Cross, supporting the humanitarian mission of the organization since 2005. In 2017, Plaza Home Mortgage made one of its largest gifts ever: over $77,000 in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
