MISMO Publishes New Credit Scoring Guide
MISMO’s new guidance is designed for organizations using the MISMO reference model as they integrate next-generation credit scoring models into their systems
MISMO has announced that a new Credit Score Implementation Guide and Credit Score Model Name Document have reached “Final” status, which means they have been thoroughly reviewed by a range of organizations and industry participants and are available for industry use.
“The Credit Score Implementation Guide is a new resource that provides backward and forward compatibility guidance for the implementation of MISMO standards to support the industry-wide, credit reporting modernization,” said MISMO President Brian Vieaux. “This guidance is intended for those that use the MISMO reference model and are working on implementing the new credit scoring models into their systems.”
The MISMO Credit Reporting Community of Practice (CoP) is leading this work, providing critical input and collaboration to ensure the standards reflect evolving credit reporting requirements. This group serves as a forum for industry professionals to contribute their perspectives and help shape the future of credit reporting standards.
The CoP is responsible for:
- Managing data elements that can be used by a mortgage originator to request, track, and cancel credit reports that are typically required in mortgage lending
- Continuing MISMO’s efforts to develop reference documentation for implementers who need to exchange credit reporting information using the MISMO v3.x reference model
- Collaborating on industry challenges, issues, and needs, then generate new ideas on solutions that MISMO can explore
MISMO was created in 1999 by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) to solve the problem of data fragmentation across the mortgage lifecycle. At that time, the mortgage process was becoming increasingly digital, but each participant in the ecosystem, from lenders to servicers to investors, was building their own systems, languages, and definitions. MISMO was formed to define and maintain a common data language for the housing finance industry.
MISMO President Brian Vieaux recently provided NMP with a retrospective of the organization in his piece titled, “MISMO At 25: Honoring The Past, Building The Foundation For The Future.”
