TransUnion, Bankrate Expand Borrower-Matching Partnership
The integration connects credit-monitoring users with personalized financial offers, including mortgages and home equity
TransUnion and Bankrate have expanded their partnership to match consumers with financial offers inside TransUnion’s free credit-monitoring service, bringing lender competition into an app consumers use to track their credit.
The integration, announced Oct. 14, combines Bankrate’s lender marketplace and auction technology with TransUnion’s credit data and Monevo offers platform. It is available in TransUnion Credit Essentials, which includes mortgage and home equity offers alongside credit cards, personal loans, and other financial products, according to the companies.
For lenders and originators, the expansion has implications for borrower acquisition: Consumers checking their credit can encounter competing loan offers within the same service. The companies also plan to extend the matching capability beyond Credit Essentials to additional websites and financial platforms.
Monevo uses credit data, alternative data, and consumer intent signals to match users with offers from participating lenders. Bankrate contributes its lender relationships and marketplace technology, which the companies say puts providers in real-time competition for consumers.
“Consumers have many credit choices and not enough clarity,” said Steve Chaouki, president of U.S. markets at TransUnion.
TransUnion said millions of consumers have registered for Credit Essentials since its May 2025 launch, with membership growing approximately 50% over the past year. Its third-quarter Consumer Pulse study found that one in 10 consumers who check their credit reports do so to learn which credit offers they may qualify to receive.
The service also generates advertising revenue. TransUnion’s consumer disclosure identifies Bankrate as its offers provider and says Bankrate pays TransUnion Interactive when consumers interact with offers, including through clicks, application approvals, or account openings. The disclosure says compensation affects offer placement, except where prohibited by law for mortgage, home equity, and other home-lending products. Offers do not cover every available provider or product, and availability may vary by state.
TransUnion acquired Monevo in April 2025, adding a platform that connects lenders with comparison websites and other online publishers. At the time, TransUnion said Monevo worked with more than 150 banks and credit providers globally.
The next expansion would carry the combined capability into publisher and affiliate websites, co-branded financial experiences, lender platforms and AI assistants. Those channels would give participating providers additional places to reach consumers researching their borrowing options.
